From Prents.com-DROP SIDE CRIB BAN

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s ban on drop-side cribs takes effect today. If you own a drop-side crib, don’t sell, donate it, or give it away. Check to see if the crib has been recalled; if it has, request a free hardware kit to immobilize it.

The small stuff…

So the other night the power went out and we had to entertain our toddler for an hour before bedtime without lights.  So we pulled out the candles and flashlights and made puppets on the ceiling seriously I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.  Her favorite was mom making a crab dance with sound affects and all.  I was not just laughing but I was relishing in the moment and enjoying its pure simplicity.  The three of us (the baby was asleep) were creating art where there was none.  I will remember that night forever.

Accepting Help

Asking for help has NEVER been easy for me.  I believe I get this part of me from my mother I tend to do it all and then bam hit a wall-either I get sick, overwhelmed or as of late something medical is going on.  I am trying to stay in the moment and know this to shall pass. Feeling like a bus hit you even when you slept, getting dizzy upon standing and having your heartbeat out of your chest even without caffeine is not comfortable.  It prevents me from being the maniac mom who is constantly taking the girls places, visiting with family and friends, cooking meals, and all around cramps my style but I guess when the body tells us something we have to listen.  I hope the tests show something or I get back to feeling like myself sometime soon.

Arts & Crafts for Father’s Day

My girls and I made my husband a t-shirt with the girls foot and handprints painted on it that says your the best daddy ever.  It was free I just took a white hanes undershirt from his drawer, paint from our craft kit and they went to town.  So easy and a young toddler could make it.  We also downloaded free cards from the fischerprice website to color for daddy & grandpa another homemade gift.  We plan on making peanut butter balls for both this weekend.  Remember the best gifts are homemade and Happy Father's Day to all of my followers…

Vacation spots

I took my husband on a pre-father's day pirate cruise in St. Augustine, FL last weekend what a neat trip.  We only went overnite because of our childcare options but it was really nice.  The cruise was $28.50 pp and lasts 1 1/2 hours, actors dressed as pirates mock eachother, tell jokes and sing songs.  We stayed at the Comfort Inn Suites off 95 which was clean, affordable and included a continental buffet I do recommend eating early as alot of people were there with kids around 930 and we waited in line for everything but this was minor.  The beds were comfy and there was a clean pool.  On the way down we stopped in Flagler and ate at a fav spot-High Tides Snack Jacks-yum again delish and affordable.  I have posted the links below:

Uncovering “new in the old”

Yesterday I came home to our bedroom rearranged by my husband, I didn't ask for it but must admit it was time for a change.  I haven't slept thru the night in months with two little one's but he thought we could use some new energy in our lives.  It got me thinking about all of the stuff we hang on to and how different our room looks now with just a few changes.  Also the concept of feng shui and how you have to get rid of old energy to make room for new. We can now look out our bedroom window at the trees outside while relaxing in bed or enjoy the cedar chest that was my moms.  It truely is the simple things in life.  I pouted a bit as I am not great with change but after being a bit restless and then sinking into a great sleep surrendered to the idea that this was needed regardless of whether we get more sleep or not.  Change is good for us and it helps us to walk thru our fear of the unknown….

Swim Lessons-ISR vs. Mommy & me classes

Well it's that time of year for swim lessons and this year my baby will be learning to float as she is only 1.  Madalynn will learn more of swim float swim sequence as she is 2 1/2 now, this is week 3 and can I say how amazed I am with ISR, our instructor makes things so much easier with explaining each and every thing she will have the girls do beforehand.  Last year I was nervous and confused as to all of our options but after speaking to many other parents who have done this technique and hearing some horror stories about children falling in pools and not doing ISR I am soooo thankful we have this option.  I do realize not everyone can afford swim lessons for their toddlers but if you cannot now remember to always be on watch when children are near water and armbands and swimsuits are not for survival-adult supervision should always be key when children are near any amount of water.  I know there are some intro to water lessons at the Y etc. but ISR is the only infant swim rescue out there with proven survival skills.  Please go to their website for more information and I have included a parents experience, it will run about $75 a week and lasts 10 minutes each day
